Really, what has the world come to? That’s my true question. I can’t believe the things parents are willing to put their children through just for a crown. I’ll admit I have watched the show a few times, but I truly feel sorry for those children. Why start this type of “perfect” image at such a young age. I personally am a mother of a 5 year old and I couldn’t imagine putting her through the things these children are going through. I mean it’s just not normal for a 3-8 year old even a little older than that to have to be getting spray tanned, eye brows waxed, hundreds of dollars spent on dresses and the attitude of a teenager. I feel these parents in the show are putting their dreams through their children, which isn’t right. These are children who have no say so and of course have to listen to what their parents are saying. Why aren’t they letting their children be kids and have a normal life? My 5 year old is having a typical child’s life I believe and I can’t imagine what her already big attitude would be like if I would put her through a beauty show. Last summer when we were shopping for swim suits for her she called her self fat and she was 4 years old, what type of image are we putting in our children’s head if we put them through beauty shows; let alone it being on television and nationwide. The damage that can be done by something so simple, I just wish that parents on this show would think more about that then their selves. Stop living your dreams through your children; it’s not good for them and their self image or their development later in life.

The image we are giving children

Your images really helped further your argument, Jessica. Remember that strategy.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what these parents are thinking. Do you remember the Jon Benet Ramsey case? Did you see Little Miss Sunshine?
